Church planting among the Maasai · Since 1996
Spreading the Gospel in Kenya
Mission Maasai partners with Maasai pastors to preach the Gospel and plant churches across the Maasai lands. We fund evangelism, church planting, church construction, and seminary training. Over more than 30 years, our efforts have necessarily expanded into healthcare, farming, education, and meeting basic human needs of food and water.

Our Mission
Our mission is to reach, gather, and empower Maasai people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The churches are planted and led by Maasai pastors. Pastor Timothy Moilo in Empukani leads the growing team who carry the work. We support it with resources and prayers. That is why the pace keeps increasing rather than leveling off.
The area we work in is in Kajiado County, Kenya, and it is home to about 75,000 Maasai. Fifty people were attending Pastor Timothy's church when we started; more than five thousand attend the churches in the network today. The goal is a church within walking distance of every one of those 75,000.
Walking distance is not a fixed number here. It depends on terrain, trails, roads, and wildlife, and people walk further than most visitors expect, in any weather. Many of them still do not have a church within reach, and many have never heard the name of Jesus. Every congregation started and every building put up closes a little more of that gap.
Jesus healed people, fed them and taught them, and He did it for people who could not repay Him. We try to love the Maasai the same way. So alongside the churches we sponsor a primary and junior secondary school, operate a medical clinic and a farm, and help during droughts and times of crisis. All of it is run by local Maasai people with the help of Mission Maasai.

Yes, you can make a significant difference
US dollars go further in Kenya. $8,500 builds a whole church. $30 a month keeps a child in school. Whatever you give, we will tell you what it did.
Give to Mission Maasai
What started with one small congregation in the village of Empukani is now more than fifty across the Maasai lands, and we are putting up another building almost every month.
Mission Maasai
Student sponsorship
Sponsor a child.
$30 a month keeps a child fed, clothed, healthy and in school. A meal every school day, a uniform, shoes and supplies, an education that is both academic and biblical, and care at the Empukani Medical Clinic.
Where it's needed
Give to Mission Maasai.
Fuel. Medicine. Transportation. Maintenance. Repairs. Infrastructure.
There are real costs to keeping all of it running so that we can get on with the mission. None of it photographs well, and it is the first thing we run out of.
Giving to the general fund, and especially giving monthly, is what keeps the vision moving forward.

Small enough to know every name, and every line of the budget.
See our financialsFrom the littlest kid to the oldest person, we need to do everything we can to make meeting Jesus in Maasai lands unavoidable. If they didn't learn about Him in school, get them a nearby church. If they won't come to church, they will come to the farm for food. If they avoid those places, they still need clean water and medical treatment.
Just make the meeting happen. Make sure Pastor Timothy has everything he needs.
