$30 per month provides food, clothing, school supplies and, most importantly, hope for the Empukani students.
Empukani, Kenya seems so far away but it became closer in my heart as I prayed for my children everyday I had not fully understood what it meant until I traveled to meet my children. What a JOY it was! I’ve prayed for their better life, their salvation, and love for Jesus…for the children we’ve never met…it’s an honor to sponsor a child and get to be a small part of their story.
He couldn’t say ‘thank you’ but man, did I feel it when he tied up that bag, not caring what was in it but cared to hold my hand every day, find me in the crowd to sit by, hug me every night before he walked hours home, and loved me through the language barrier. My little brother is going to grow up and become a nurse like he wants, not because of the $30 I give him a month, but because he knows I love him and that means it’s more than a sponsorship, it’s fellowship. It’s a promise. It’s hope. It’s a future for my little brother.
I love that when we sponsor we can actually put a real face with a name! We can write them and I know the kids will get our letters. My heart will forever be changed from this experience and ministry. I feel some of us are used to help grow ministries but each of us are equipped and designed to help fulfill the need in ministries such as sponsoring these precious kids! Providing food, clothes, shelter, education, and more with a small sacrifice on my part was a no brainer for me.
